No apathy
Legal action will be taken against the elected representatives at the level of local bodies if they are apathetic towards the incidents of atrocities against people of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes, the minister added.
Stating that manual cleaning of sewerage lines should stop, he said action would be taken against those responsible for continuing the manual scavenging.
Funds unsued
Narayanaswamy said urban local bodies like city municipal councils and town municipal councils have not utilised nearly Rs 190 crore granted by the department.
He cautioned that if the budgetary allocations are not spent properly, steps will be taken to stop the release of grants.
