Karnataka complete facile win

Last Updated 23 November 2010, 16:06 IST

The hosts, who had been brilliant right throughout the contest, were made to sweat a bit by Gupta (103, 230b, 14x4) but the hosts maintained their composure to register a superb win at the RSI ground.

Needing 155 runs and with just four wickets left to make Karnataka bat again, the visitors were up against a mighty task of saving the match but began rather promisingly. Resuming the day at 150 for six, Gupta and Shirag Desai added a further 72 runs before the latter departed to ZA Sayyed.

Baroda did stitch together  small partnerships but the task ahead of them was so enormous that they eventually folded up for 287 in 150.3 overs.

J Suchith was the pick of the bowlers for Karnataka with figures of three for 43 while RG More, Sayyed and Shreyas Gopal scalped two apiece.

Brief scores: Baroda: 137 all out in 72.5 overs and 287 (O/n: 150/6 in 66 overs) all out in 150.3 overs (Saurabh Wakaskar 84, Hardik Pandya 25, Sahil Gupta 103, Priyansh Kandoi 26 n.o.; RG More 2-66, ZA Sayyed 2-38, J Suchith 3-43, Shreyas Gopal 2-43).
