Jail is a sacred place: Seer

Sri Gangadharendra Saraswathi Swamiji of Sri Swarnavalli Mutt, Sonda, Uttara Kannada district, on Friday held a discourse on Sri Bhagavadgita for the inmates of Prisons, in the city.

The seer said jail is a sacred place as it was the birth place of Lord Krishna. Even great personalities like Lokamanya Balagangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhiji and Arvind Ghosh achieved great things being in jail and later became the guides for the whole world.

Swamy Arvind was a normal person when he went to jail but while coming out he had transformed into Maharshi Arvind. All these great souls were inspired by the Bhagavadgita and reached great heights in their life.

Discourse

The pontiff said the discourse on the Bhagavadgita and books would definitely change their life and would come out of jail as reformed persons. On this occasion, the seer taught the shlokas of the 15th chapter of the Bhagavadgita.

The seer also distributed the copies of it to all the inmates. Working president of Sri Bhagadavgita Abhiyan Samiti, B V Manjunath, honorary vice-president Nanjundaswamy, Manjunath Hegde, Herambha R Bhat, N T hegde, Chief Jail Superintendent T H Lakshminarayana, Jail Superintendent T Mallesh and Assistant Jailer, Jogaiah, Urs and Suresh were present.

Vanita Manjunath and Sumangala Satish would teach the shlokas for the inmates for eight days.
