'Applications for title deeds will be verified'

District Comprehensive Tribal Development Project Co-ordinating Officer Urmila said that the applications for title deeds for land rights under Forest Rights Act will be verified by a team comprising of Gramaranya Hakku Samiti members, officials of Revenue, Forest Department and Grama Sevaks.

Addressing the Forest Rights Committee meeting on Thursday at Taluk Panchayat hall, she said that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be given priority while conducting verifications.

‘No right'

“Aranya Hakku Samiti does not have the right to reject any application. It is passed only after being approved at the Grama Sabhe. Eligible persons will be given title deeds step by step,” she                said.

Members of Aranya Hakku Samiti opined that Forest Department is behaving unreasonably and is showing its power by claiming huge area of land in residential areas.

Dates for scrutiny

The team will hold scrutiny of applications from July 6 to 8 and from July 27 to 29 at Agalagandi, July 9 and 10 and July 30 and 31 at Attikodige, July 6 to 8 and on July 21 and 22 at Buvanakote,  July 6 to 8 and on July 21 and 22 at Tuluvinakoppa, July 9 and 10 at Asagodi.

 July 16 to 18 at Guddethota, July 13 to 15 at Niluvagilu, July 13 to 15, July 30, 31 and August 1 at Shanuvalli, July 16 to 18 and from July 27 to 29 at Binthravalli, July 13 to 15 at Harandur.

July 16 to 18 at Jayapura, July 20 ato 22 at Hiregadde, July 23 to 25 at Hariharapura, July 21 to 23 at Tharithottalu.

July 23 to 25 at Hirekodige, July 29 and 30 at Nuggi, July 31 and August 1 at Kesave.
