'Applications for title deeds will be verified'

District Comprehensive Tribal Development Project Co-ordinating Officer Urmila said that the applications for title deeds for land rights under Forest Rights Act will be verified by a team comprising of Gramaranya Hakku Samiti members, officials of Revenue, Forest Department and Grama Sevaks.

Addressing the Forest Rights Committee meeting on Thursday at Taluk Panchayat hall, she said that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be given priority while conducting verifications.

‘No right'

“Aranya Hakku Samiti does not have the right to reject any application. It is passed only after being approved at the Grama Sabhe. Eligible persons will be given title deeds step by step,” she                said.
