Addressing a news conference on Monday Rathnakar said that State government is claiming credit for most of the programmes of the centre.

Under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, he said Rs 5.36 crore was released during 2007-08, Rs 7.61 crore was released during 2008-09, Rs 12.44 crore was released during 2009-10 and during 2010-11 Rs 19.28 crore was released.

Unfortunately only Rs 60.25 lakh was utilised under the scheme in 2007-08, Rs 8.94 lakh was utilised during 2008-09 and Rs 1.25 was utilised during 2009-10.

“This poor utilisation of fund shows the interest of the State government as far as implementation of the scheme  is concerned,” he said.

The Centre has been providing 50 per cent to 75 per cent subsidy for drip irrigation, diesel pump and other farming equipment. Subsidy of Rs 45,000 will be provided for purchase of tractor and tiller, Rs 50,000 for areca peeler etc.

Under National Horticulture Mission monetary aide is being provided for cultivation of cardamom and other spices, plantain etc.

“Including Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, State government has been claiming credit for all the centre’s programmes,” he said.
