Protesters said that though huge quantity of coffee, areca and paddy have been lost due to untimely rains, the government has not taken any steps to conduct a survey and ascertain the loss.

Farmer leaders said that the BJP government is showing that it is anti-farming and pro-mining activities. “This Government is not pro-people on the whole. Neither have they waived off the loans of the farmers nor have they waived off the loans of Ashraya beneficiaries.

The entire administrative mechanism has collapsed,” they said and added that the local MLA who has so far not responded to the problems of the farmers has been making baseless allegations against the farmer organisations.

“MLA has spoken in a derogatory way about Raitha Sangha and the green shawls worn by farmer leaders. If he continues to make such statements we will gherao him,” they warned. They handed over a memorandum to Tahshildar Umeshchandra demanding interim relief to farmers.
