Young engineer killed in road mishap

The deceased has been identified as Girish (26) son of Thimmappegowda, a native of  Koyomajalu, Subramanyam, Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. He was employed with Infosys Technologies, Hootgalli here as design engineer.

V V Puram Traffic Police said the mishap may have occurred when Girish was returning to his room at Vijayanagar around 11.30 pm. His motorcycle was hit by a goods autorickshaw near the water tank at the first main, first stage of Vijayanagar, said a cop recalling the words of eye witnesses. His identity could be established with the help of his driving license and job identity card found on person. 

The incident came to light when a passerby informed the local police about a person found lying along with his vehicle on the road. Some damaged parts of the autorickshaw has been recovered from the spot. Cops have appealed to the mechanics to inform the cops if they attend to any such damaged vehicles, on 2418129/ 329/ or 529.|

Murder: Man arrested?

A man who had gone at large after allegedly burning his paramour to death is believed to have been arrested by Udayagiri Police on Thursday. However, the police denied to confirm his arrest.

Tausiff, 27, an autorickshaw driver and resident of Haleem Nagar had been on run after setting Sundramma ablaze. Sundramma who had severed ties with her husband several years ago, had been living with another, before moving in with Tausiff two years ago.

Tausiff who was already married had two children by then. On Tuesday both had returned from M M Hills. Tausiff was enraged when Sundramma didn’t answer his call on her cellphone. Crazed, he returned only to pour kerosene over Sundramma and set her on fire even as her neighbours watched helplessly.

Tausiff made good his escape on the pretext of summoning ambulance. Sundramma who was rushed to the hospital by her neighbours told police about Tausiff behind the act. Subsequently, Sundramma succumbed to burns within a couple of hours after being admitted to the hospital.

Woman among two held

Nazarbad police have arrested  two including a women and have recovered nine cell phones and a gold chain totalling worth ` 1.08 lakh.

Aasma Bhanu alias Aasma, aged 20 years, wife of Azam Pasha of Rajiv Nagar and Subhan, 24, son of Mazhar, of Kalyangiri are those two arrested persons. Aasma had lifted the chain from a woman travelling in  a KSRTC bus from Chamundi Hills to Zoo in January last. The cellphones had also been lifted near the Zoo.

The police team consisted of Inspector K C Poovaiah, sub-inspectors H M Madhu and Guruprasad and others, said a release.

Rider dies

A two-wheeler rider met his watery grave when he allegedly veered off the road falling into a pit on Wednesday night.

Raju alias Thammanna, 30 years, son of Mahadevanayaka of Ayarahalli is that unfortunate. Death lurked at him when he was returning home after attending a marriage ceremony in Mysore. Raju fell into the 15 feet deep pit near Devalapura.
