Spread over 150 acres, the academy is the brainchild of Delhi-based Indianeye Security. With highly skilled trainers drawn from the National Security Guard, the army, the police and special forces, the institute aims to train members of paramilitary and private security guards along with the police force with a specific set of courses.

As regards the training module for the police force, one of the faculty members,  Brigadier (retired) Subodh Kaul, said: “We have already spoken to the top officers in the state police department to send the jawans for training. Initially, we aim at training the trainers in the police department on various aspects of modern warfare, including offensive, defensive and evasive tactics,” Kaul said.

The training module constists of skills like room-intervention techniques, hostage-rescue techniques, search and arrest procedure,  establishing operational combat centre during crisis and basic first-aid techniques.

According to Kaul, there are thousands of security guards in the State who do not have proper basic training even to avert a petty theft. “For them, we have a series of training modules which include techniques right from prevention and self-defence to VIP security,” Kaul said.

The academy also claims to have expertise in composing and deploying Quick Reaction Team in a short time span to avert any terror attack. “We will train 60 personnel per batch in two-three groups a day. The duration of the course is one month. As far as the police department is concerned, we will charge a nominal amount to cover operational and administrative cost. We are waiting for the trainees to come,” Kaul said.

Speaking about the academy, Director General of Police (Training) S T Ramesh said, “ We have enough number of training modules developed by various security organisations in the country for this purpose. The most important aspect is expenditure which needs to addressed. We are looking into the proposal.”
