Excise Minister M P Renukacharya told reporters in Bangalore that a majority of these include small units brewing two to three litres of illicit liquors in sheds.
He said department officials had conducted 39,359 raids and registered 6,016 cases, arrested 2,672 people and seized 490 vehicles involved in transportation of liquor illegally till October 2010.
He said a meeting will be scheduled next week to chalk out an action plan to curb manufacture and sale of illicit liquor.
