The chart of progress report gives an insight of the projects undertaken and its status, besides considering the suggestions if any in the interest of the works.

Earlier, MP H Vishwanath, who took initiative in convening the meeting to apprise the corporators on the ongoing JnNURM projects, asked the deputy commissioner to submit a paper on the progress, within a fortnight.

Judicious use

He reiterated that the implementing agencies have just two years left to make judicious use of the funds. And, it’s high time the officers pulled up their socks.

Continuing, he said of the total ` 1,834 crore sanctioned for the works, ` 1,330 crore has been released and only ` 500 crore has been spent. Compared to the cities in other States like Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, Mysore is still lagging behind.

Mincing no words Vishwanath attributed the poor progress here to the fault of implementing agencies and the officers executing the works.

Allegation

Corporator T V Girish Prasad alleged that Karnataka State Slum Clearance Board (KSSCB) has revised the list of beneficiaries of houses being constructed for slum dwellers under JnNURM following the recommendations of a politician.

Acting on his complaint the deputy commissioner sought an explanation from KSSCB Executive Engineer Biligiriranganatha Swamy, who refuted the allegation.

As Girish Prasad argued that the officer is misleading the meeting with erroneous information, the deputy commissioner asked both the parties to submit the related documents.

KSRTC works

Former Mayors B K Prakash and N Prakash alleged that KSRTC went ahead with the works without consulting the Police authorities on traffic related hurdles.

The duo pointed out the stopping of Bangalore bound KSRTC buses in the corner of the sub-urban bus stand especially during the departure time with the conductors competing with each others only to lure the passengers. Buses parked in a chain have been adding to the existing woes on traffic front, the duo contended.

Even as there are aspersions about the quality of works undertaken under JnNURM project here, the latest is- stopping of works on drinking water supply under Kabini second stage.

Bhyrappa said that the farmers, whose lands were acquired near Bidaragoodu in the taluk for the major works of Kabini drinking water supply, have warned of not allowing the works to continue until and unless their demand for adequate compensation is addressed by the authorities concerned.

Regional Commissioner M V Jayanthi, Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal, MUDA Commissioner P C Jayanna, Deputy Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath were present.
