CWG Village complex yet to get DUAC completion certificate

Last Updated 05 December 2010, 03:28 IST

"We have told the project proponents (DDA and Emaar-MGF) that the Games Village housing complex should not be occupied without prior approval by the Commission," DUAC Chairperson K T Ravindran told PTI.

He said that as per norms, the proposal for approval has to be received from the local body -- DDA -- after which a no objection certificate (NoC) will be issued.

"The NoC would depend on the compliance with the guidelines issued to them while approving the building plan of the project," he added. The DUAC members had recently visited the site and were satisfied that the temporary constructions in the Village were being demolished as directed by the DUAC.

The members also noted that accommodation of the Village has been utilised for the Games but the completion certificate has not been given by the Commission so far.Situated besides the Akshardham temple in east Delhi, the Village has 34 towers with 1,168 flats -- two, three, four, and five- bedroom-hall-kitchen types.

The DDA's share in the Village had originally been around 390 but after a financial bailout given by it to private firm Emaar-MGF to help it complete the construction, the number of flats in the housing agency's favour went up to 723.
