Bonded labour: Revenue inspector suspended

The release from Deputy Commissioner said that Revenue Inpsector can not lead headquarters without the permission of Bantwal Tahsildar. Notices have been issued to Deputy Tahsildars Sridhar Gowda, Malleswamy and O J Mascarenhas seeking explanation on bonded labourers. Notices have also been issued to VAs Jagadish K, Diwakar Mugalya and Angara Prakash.

Warning

The DC warned that licenses of quarries which employ children and bonded labourers will be cancelled.

Ukkuda quarry has violated the rules and regulations. Hence, Mines and Geology Deputy Director has been directed to suspend the license of the quarry.

Report on quarries

Deputy Commissioner Subodha Yadav has directed Labour Officer Appayya Shindihatti to submit a detailed report on the condition of quarries in the district along with the labour condition within seven days.

The details should be collected jointly by the labour department and Mines and Geology department.

He said if the officials had taken enough measures to eradicate bonded labour and child labour system as per the direction of Human Rights Commission, bonded labour system at Vittal would not have been reported.

He said it is not difficult to find out the condition of labourers in quarry.
