The agitation is being held under the aegis of Race Club tolagisi Sarvajanika Asthi Ulisi Horata Samithi.

Addressing the gathering, Mahesh contended that the value of the said property is worth crores of rupees in the current market price.

The MRC owes more than ` 150 crore to the State government by way of tax.

Lease period

Besides, the lease period of the MRC lapsed three years ago but either the district administration or Public Works Department is not taking steps to reclaim the property.

Now the MRC is building the stables inside the MRC which is a clear violation of the rules and regulations. A strong bureaucratic lobby is supporting the MRC because of which no officer is ready to take strong action against its members.

The MLA said a portion of the said property could be given to the Mysore Zoo as it was facing space problem in accommodating the animals and birds and another portion could be developed as a botanical garden.

Govt must intervene

The State government should intervene and direct the deputy commissioner to reclaim the property immediately. The samithi would intensify its agitation if the government fail to fulfil their demand.

People from various walks of life, environmentalists and leaders of various political parties participated in the agitation.
