KPCC president G Parameshwara has convened a meeting of party’s senior leaders on Wednesday to work out strategies for the elections.

Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah had urged the government not to hold the elections till the issue of reservation for backward classes in the local bodies was addressed. The backward classes lost more than 30 per cent of seats they had contested in the last elections, following a Supreme Court judgement restricting the maximum reservation in the local bodies at 50 per cent.

During the campaign, the party will focus on recent scams related to denotification of properties, allotment of KIADB land and BDA sites. Party leader Motamma, said: “The recent scams have tainted the government’s image. We will highlight it in the campaign,” she said.
In a separate press conference Congress leader V S Ugrappa said allegations of irregularities against Yeddyurappa should be probed by Lokayukta and not by the judicial commission.

He said the judicial commission headed by Justice Padmaraj had rights only to submit the inquiry report, whereas the Lokayukta had powers to probe and file charge sheet.
