Srinivas Gowda to join JD(S) on December 16

Former minister announces his choice of party

Speaking at meeting of his supporters in the city on Thursday, Gowda, who was expelled from the Congress, said the meeting on the 16th would be organised at the Government Boys’ College.

“Leaders of the BJP and the JD(S) approached me after I was expelled from the Congress. After much thought on what party to join and whether I should remain independent, I took the decision after leaders and supporters of the JD(S) convinced me that the party was a home to the Janata Parivar,” Gowda explained.

He said he hoped nobody would face the kind of ill-treatment he and his supporters had to face as members of the Congress. He also questioned the commitment of the people who doubted his commitment to the Congress party.
