The tableaux which was earlier limited to the festival of nativity in September has expanded and presently portrays parables of the New Testament with local flavour blended for a better impact.

During Christmas season, the White Doves are all set with their mobile tableaux spotlighting the birth of Jesus who came to move hearts and minds of people. The language used while propagating the Christmas message is local and easily grasped and backed by music which enlivens the Christmas mood.

The tableaux are usually arranged in the evening soon after sunset. In the last couple of years, the White Doves have upgraded their quality of sound and light. The artistic display has actors posing in authentic costumes and the performance itself is stunning and captures the hearts and minds of the beholder.

More than 100 performers are selected for their talent and trained for weeks in advance. The show is indeed a crowd puller and people of all faiths come out and its value added message is valuable indeed. About half an hour before the show, the party of singers with popular instruments and digital sound reaches the spot and announces the programme and foot taping Christmas carols fill the air, with the spectacle starting at the stipulated time. Several costumed ‘Santas’ dancing to jingle bells cheer the people especially children by flinging candies.

As the show ends, volunteers collect whatever the people desire to offer and the proceeds are used for the work of  the ‘White Doves’ among the marginalized. White Doves have undertaken this human work in Mangalore, inspired by the teachings of Christ and the life of Mother Teresa and reflecting that service to needy humans is to serve and worship the Supreme.

The White Doves are all set with this year’s Christmas preparations and will be seen at Deralakatte Junction and Fr Muller’s Hospital on December 11 and at Nehru Maidan and Kadri Circuit house on on December 12.
