Minister suspends hostel warden

The inmates of the hostel complained about the lack of basic facilities when the minister made a surprise visit to the hostel on Saturday and interacted with the students.

New warden

Later, speaking with the reporters, he said the new warden will assume office by Wednesday.

It is the responsibility of the hostel wardens to address the problems of inmates. The department would not tolerate who ignore ignorant officers, he said.

Deputy Commissioners in all the districts have been directed to visit the hostels to know the students’ plight.

Upset

Prior to it, Narayanaswamy visited another hostel, Jai Bheem Boys Hostel.

The minister was upset over poor mattresses provided to the inmates and lack of hygiene in the hostel vicinity.

He promised to provide good quality beds to the inmates.
