'Emphasis on nanoscience imparative'

He was speaking after inaugurating the three-day International workshop on ‘Application of Nanotechnology to Energy, Environment and Biotechnology’ organised by St Aloysius College here on Tuesday.

He said that nanotechnology will be an inseparable part in the life of every human being in future.

“Conservation of energy is a challenge and people will have to give more emphasis on it,” Acharya said adding that energy can be conserved through the application of nanotechnology.

Presenting a paper on ‘Nanotechnology: A Truly Versatile Opening to the New World of Materials and Novel Technologies’ Scientist Prof K V Rao said that the nanoscience and the nanotechnology have become the most visible inter-disciplinary topic of world-wide national strategic importance and interest.

“The technology has the potential to facilitate the transfer of information and increase efficiency in many areas,” he added.

Talking about various possibilities through the application of nanotechnology, Rao said that a smart shirt can be developed to monitor the health care of the wearer. It can monitor the vital signs of those involved in high-stress occupations.
