MRC gets govt clearance, races to go ahead

The State Public Works Department Secretary Peshwe directed the PWD authorities in Mysore not to halt the MRC activities till the matter is fully resolved. MRC had earlier been told to vacate its premises as its lease had ended in 2006.

A top official of the MRC said they had been given clearance to conduct races on Wednesday. “We have received permission to conduct our racing activities and therefore our races will be run as scheduled tomorrow (Wednesday).”

“We can also conduct off-course betting in Mysore till the matter is fully heard.”
Last week’s races had to be cancelled after MRC received a letter from Public Works, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department asking the club to vacate with in a week.
