10 held; valuables worth over Rs 60 lakh recovered

House theft

In the first incident, CCB sleuths arrested two persons in connection with house thefts and recovered jewellery worth Rs 28 lakh and Rs 2.1 lakh cash. The arrested were Manjunath from Kodasiddanapalya in Magadi taluk and R Rajendra from Kamakshipalya. They were involved in 12 house thefts in Bangalore, Tumkur and Tiptur, said police.

Earlier, the two had committed more than 50 thefts in different parts of the City. The CCB police had constituted a special team to arrest those involved in vehicle thefts.

Muthoot theft case

The special team recently arrested one more person, Jagannath, involved in a theft at Muthoot Finance in New Tippasandra, Jeevanbimanagar. The police recovered jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from him. The accused, Nirmal Rajkumar and his associates, had abducted the manager of Muthoot Finance on June 3, 2009 and had escaped with pledged jewellery weighing 14 kg and Rs 1.75 lakh in cash.

Chemmanur heist

The police have arrested Vasanth Saliyan and recovered stolen jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from him. He was one of the accused in the Chemmanur Jewellers heist case in August 2008. Miscreants had struck at the jewellery store in Kammanahalli in broad daylight and had taken away more than 36 kg of gold and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash.

Six arrested

High Grounds police recently arrested six people, Tausif Baig, Mehboob Pasha, Wasim Khan, Ibrahim, Rehmatulla and Yusuf Pasha, all from Padarayanapura, and recovered lethal weapons.
