While three boats comprising of four fire force personnel entered the waters, divers assisted them in turns by searching for the remaining four bodies submerged in the deep waters of the lake. Beetle leaves and food parcels being carried by the deceased were seen floating on the lake. Lots of slippers were seen strewn on the National Highway.

While villagers and passers-by stopped to look at the accident spot, traffic moved slowly on National Highway 212 as it was occasionally blocked by the arrival of elected representatives and police officers.

While the police officers guiding the traffic, a long queue of vehicles coming from opposite sides was a common scene until the search operations ended at around 1.45 pm after the last body of Ningamma (65) was found.

The stream of visitors included Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, MLA Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta and SP Manish Karbikar.

Even as the traffic was moving at a slow pace, visitors coming from Kerala and Tamil Nadu peeped through the windows of their vehicles to take pictures of spot at which the tragic incident occurred.

Villagers continued teeming in to catch a glimpse of the rescue operations and voiced their concern about the condition of the roads to the elected representatives who visited the spot.
