Education should be practical: Nair

He was speaking at the regional incentive award function of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan (KVS) at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Malleswaram in the City on Wednesday.

The youth have a greater responsibility in developing the nation. Hence, the onus of inculcating humane behaviour among the children leading to the creation of a better society lies on the teaching fraternity. Also, teachers should equip students with life skills and impart practical knowledge, he said.

The regional incentive award, which was given to 16 teachers from Bangalore region, was the first of its kind. Until last year these awards were given at the national level. The teachers were given Rs 5,000 cash prize along with citation and certificate.

Assistant Commissioner KVS Bangalore region Nirmala Mohan said teachers should aspire to gain appreciation and recognition from their pupils.
