Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Naveenraj Singh on Thursday sought co-operation of leaders of various political parties in the strict implementation of the poll code in the district following the elections to taluk and zilla panchayats.
At a meeting here, he said political parties have to obtain prior permission of the poll code implementation committee before holding any programme.
The banners and other publicity materials could be put up two hours of the meeting and it should be removed two hours after the meeting. Bursting of crackers at the time of filing nominations is strictly prohibited, he added.
The DC said the licensed gun holders have to deposit the arms at their nearest police stations during the elections. However, the people of Alur, Sakleshpur taluk and Arehalli in Belur taluk are exempted from this order due to the menace of wild elephants.
He said the political parties have to be careful about the poll expenditure as it will be strictly followed following the orders from the State Election Commission. The parties, if they want further information regarding the poll code, could contact the committee concerned in both district and taluk levels.
