Cops recover property worth 1.2 cr

B A Mahesh, Superintendent of Police (Bangalore Rural) told reporters here on Friday that 91 cases have been solved by arresting 110 suspects. Jewellery and other property worth Rs 28 lakh, 38 two-wheelers and 23 four-wheelers have been recovered, he said.

In a major breakthrough, Nelamangala, Dobbespet and Hebbugodi police arrested three notorious gangs that operated on National Highways and recovered four cars, six bikes, a laptop, two cellphones and a gold chain, all worth Rs 14 lakh, the officer said.

On December 11, Vijayakumar, Babu and Venugopal chased a car on their two-wheelers and stopped it near Mahadevapura on NH-48. They dragged the car driver Nagesh out of his vehicle and fled with his car.

The police arrested the duo near Gudemaranahally Handpost on NH-48 and recovered the car, SP said.

They admitted to have robbed a man of his car near Dobbaspet and selling the vehicle in Padubidri, Udipi district, the officer said.

Another gang arrested

Nelamangala police arrested Kirana (25), Anilkumar (24) and Bharath (21), who had robbed a person and recovered the stolen goods.

On December 14, Sridhar was waiting for a vehicle to go to Tumkur near Kunigal Circle in Nelamangala. The trio came in a car and offered him a drop.

After travelling for about 10 km, they took him to an isolated place, assaulted him, robbed his gold ring, mobile phone, a laptop and cash of Rs 860. They removed all his clothes, threw him out and fled. A few people, who noticed Sridhar informed the Nelamangala police. Circle Inspector of Police conducted patrolling on NH-4, arrested the suspects, the SP said.
