Last Updated 18 December 2010, 18:33 IST

Around 120 teachers boycotted the evaluation of nearly 12,000 answer scripts at the evaluation centre in Reva Engineering College, Bangalore. Saturday’s boycott pertained to evaluation of Computer Networks answer scripts of seventh semester students from Electronics and Communication and Telecommunication branches.

Federation of Engineering College Teachers’ Association of Karnataka President S Vidyashankar said evaluation work would commence only after the government notifies AICTE Sixth Pay Commission pay scales. “Till the gazette notification is issued, we will not commence evaluation work,” he said.

The boycott is expected to hit VTU severely, as the evaluation work is scheduled to begin in full swing from Monday. The Federation, which represents nearly 20,000 teachers across the State, has declared that it will be boycotting evaluation at all five evaluation centres.
