They were married one-and-half years ago and were residing at Garudacharpalya in Kaverinagar, said Mahadevapura police.

According to the police, Shankar and Nandini had a tiff during lunch. An upset Nandini poured kerosene over herself and set herself ablaze.

Shankar who went to save her, also sustained severe injuries. They were shifted to a hospital where Shankar died on Saturday, while Nandini passed away on Sunday, the police said.

Held for brown sugar sale

CID personnel arrested Abdul Rehman from Nayandahalli and recovered 980 gm of brown sugar. The suspect was planning to sell it in parties in Bangalore and to college  students.

Techie killed in accident

B S Anil Kumar (27), a resident of Cholanayakanahalli in Whitefield was killed in a road accident in Hebbal traffic police limits on Saturday night.

Anil who was speeding on his bike, lost control over his two-wheeler and hit an electric pole near Manyata Tech Park in Nagavara. He sustained severe head injuries, the police said.

House burgled

Thieves struck at a house in broad daylight on Saturday and decamped with jewellery and other valuables in Jnanabharathi police limits.

According to the complainant, Meera, the thieves broke open the rear door of her residence in Papareddypalya to gain entry inside when she had gone to a relative’s house.

Women robbed

A woman was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 1.25 lakh on Saturday by an unidentified person. The incident took place when victim, Sarojamma from Avalahalli, was returning home from temple at Pillaiah Layout in Attibele. The suspect followed her and snatched her chain after knocking her down, the police said.

In another incident, unidentified persons robbed a woman passenger of her gold chain kept in a wallet in a BMTC bus, recently. Indiramma, from Arakere, stated in her complaint with the Upparpet police that she got into the bus from Arakere to go to central bus stand. She had kept the chain in the wallet and was holding it. Someone cut open the wallet and took away the chain. She came to know about the incident when she got down at the bus stand, she added.
