'Jagjivan Ram was voice of oppressed'

He was talking at the 23rd death anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, which was organised by the Social Welfare Department on Monday.

Babu Jagjivan Ram fought for equal justice and opportunities for all and his struggle is now bearing results, he observed.

A mere observing of birthdays and death anniversaries of great leaders is not sufficient. Instead honest efforts should be directed towards the betterment and growth of the oppressed, said Dalit Sangarsha Samiti Zilla Unit convener K C Rajakanth.

Green revolution heralder

The death anniversary of former deputy prime minister and heralder of Green revolution was observed at the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner in- charge N Shivaraj paid floral tribute to the portrait of Babu Jagjivan Ram.

Also, present on the occasion were Zilla Panchayat CEO G V Ranga Rao, Zilla Social Welfare officer Pradeep, tahsildhar S M Mangala and leaders of various dalit organisations were present on the occasion.
