Justice J N Singh of the court stayed appointment of the constables after hearing a batch of writ petitions filed by several applicants charging irregularities in the process of recruitment.
The names were declared yesterday and the selected candidates for the post of constables were to join on January 15 next year.
The court asked the state government to file an affidavit in the case within two weeks.
