Obama, Cameroon discuss Af-Pak review report over phone

"The Prime Minister reiterated his condolences on the death of Richard Holbrooke and they agreed on the importance of sustaining our joint efforts on Afghanistan," the White House said in a statement.

Obama reviewed the conclusions of the Afghanistan Pakistan Annual Review and Cameroon reported on his observations from his trip to Afghanistan.

"The leaders also recognised the courage and professionalism of US, British and international forces. They discussed next steps in preparing for the start of transition in early 2011 as agreed on at the NATO Summit in Lisbon and the importance of increasing regional support for Afghanistan," the statement said.

The two leaders also discussed their counter-terrorism cooperation in light of current threats and Monday's arrests of terror suspects in Britain.

"They agreed on the value of advancing the Middle East Peace process and emphasised their mutual commitment to close US-UK cooperation in 2011," the statement said, adding the two leader also wished each other ahead of the Christmas and New. Year.
