JOIN US'Mauritius gaining recognition in service sector'
He was speaking at the valedictory of national seminar on Catalysing entrepreneurship in food processing and information communication technology’ organised by Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering - Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (SJCE-STEP) here on Wednesday.
While Mauritius is now competing with Singapore in the services sector, Bachoo said that it has been partly due to the support provided by India.
Appreciation
Appreciating India’s continuous support, Bachoo said that the country has helped by providing engineers and architects for developing Mauritius.
Geology experts
He said that recently the Indian Government provided geological experts to tackle the problem of landslides in his home country.
Students increasing
Bachoo said that more number of students from countries such as India, Nepal and South Africa are turning to Mauritius to pursue higher education. However, he urged for the need to expose engineers to practical and not limit them to theoretical knowledge.

Free education
Anil Kumar Bachoo said that education was free for citizens of Mauritius until the university-level. Now the thrust is on providing higher education and provide better opportunities for citizens.
