'City lags in providing employment'

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new building belonging to Uttara Kannada District Samskruthika Sangha here at Kuvempunagar on Sunday.

Rated as one among the several heritage cities, Mysore provides a platform to excel in education, health and cultural areas. Infosys has set-up its facility spread over an area of 30 acres and invested ` 220 crores. However the number of people from Mysore employed directly by the company is negligible, he added.

Tourism and hospitality industry are the major income sources in the city. Raykar said that the city, which has clean and beautiful environment is making strides in all areas.

Commending the  Uttara Kannada District Samskruthika Sangha, he said that the association provides a platform for those who finish education and leave their districts.
Mysore Kaynes Hotel President M Jagannath Shenoy said that there is a need to construct hostels for students coming from other cities.

He urged the association to take up projects for building hostels. Brahma Educational Society President Dr Ra Satyanarana released Prof Gurupaada K Hegde’s ‘Sri Maatha Lalitha’ novel on the occasion.

Uttara Kannada District Samskruthika Sangha President S D Sawkar, Vice-President Krishnamanja Bhat, Secretary Heramba R Bhat, Jayashri Shanbag and Prof Gurupaada K Hegde were present.
