Poll campaign to end today

According to a press release, all the political leaders, candidates have been directed to follow the directions on closure of the campaigns.

The voters can collect details on the polling booth, in which they have to exercise their franchise and  the serial number of the polling by calling the following officials: Mangalore (0824- 2220587), Bantwal (08255-232120, 08255- 232500), Belthangady (08256- 233123), Puttur (08251-234099) and Sullia (08257- 231231).

Those buildings, which have more than one polling booth has displayed the voters list in alphabetical order outside the booth to help the voters to know their respective polling booth.

Bus facility
Bus facility has been arranged for the polling officials to take them to the polling booths on December 30 and on December 31 to bring them back, at the designated places. The personnel have been requested to be ready by 6 am, according to a press release issued by Tahsildar.

Dry days
For the smooth and peaceful election, the Deputy Commissioner has banned the sale or distribution of liquor at hotels, wine shops, bar and restaurants between December 30, 6 am and December 31, 8 pm in the district.

The serving of liquor in non-proprietary clubs, star hotels, restaurants and hotels who have been issued different categories of licenses for possession and supply of liquor is also banned during the period.

The wineshops / bars can open the shops at 8 pm on December 31 in view of the new year celebrations, states a press release.
