Youth chops off woman's tongue

The profusely bleeding victim, from Lohna village, has been admitted to the hospital. Doctors said that she would not be able to speak clearly in future. According to reports, Suresh Prasad, who lived in the neighbourhood, allegedly barged into the woman’s house on Monday and tried to rape her. The woman, a mother of two, put up strong resistance and shouted for help.

A frustrated Suresh allegedly thrashed her before chopping off a part of her tongue. He fled before the villagers reached the spot after hearing her shouts. Family members of the woman alleged that the youth had been stalking her for the past several days. “We had approached the police with a complaint but they did not take any action’’, said Ram Prakash, the husband of the woman.

The husband is a landless labourer. “Had the police taken quick action on our complaint, this tragic incident could  have been avoided’’, he said. Hardoi district police chief Luv Kumar said that a case has been registered and a manhunt had been launched to nab the alleged culprit.
