Man held for duping

Police said Shine S was arrested on a complaint lodged by the Federal Bank manager Solan George. Posing as an additional director general of police, Shine told Solan that he is from a village in Thiruvanthapuram. He assured Solan that he would provide him a job in Australia or Dubai and boasted of his contacts abroad.

Solan paid him Rs. 9.5 lakh for a job overseas. It, however did not take too long for Solan to realize that he was cheated. Solan asked Shine to return his money, but got abuse instead.He then lodged a complaint with the Upparpet police. Based on his complaint, Shine was arrested.

Chain snatched
Two men relieved a 40-year-old woman of her 24-gm gold chain in Malleswaram, 17th Cross early Tuesday morning. Hemalatha of Ranganathapur was returning home from a temple at 5.45 am when the men accosted her and snatched the chain.

House burgled
Thieves struck at the residence of Ataullah Khan (45) in Dasarahalli on Monday and made away with 50 gm of gold jewellery, 500 gm of silver ornaments and Rs 12,000 in cash.
Khan and his family had been to his sister-in-law's house in Mavalli when the theft occurred, police said.

Motorcycle thief held
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing motorcycles. The police recovered 21 two-wheelers following the arrest. Shankar alias Jinke, a resident of Mathikere, was reportedly involved in a number of vehicle thefts in Yeshwantpur, Malleswaram, Sanjaynagar, Rajajinagar and Rajagopal Nagar.

Conman arrested
A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trying to encash a cheque for Rs 90,000 by forging the signature of an account holder. Ashok Kumar P alias Rohan Jain of Ajmer district, Rajasthan and residing in Rajajinagar, is the suspect. Police said Kumar tried to encash the cheque of Chethan Prabhu Dev by forging his signature and furnished fabricated documents to transfer money to his bank account.
