Youth loses life over affair

Jagadish allegedly had an affair with Narendra’s sister, much to his friend’s annoyance.
The suspects picked a quarrel with Jagadish on Saturday night and assaulted him with lethal weapons. Jagadish sustained severe head injuries and died within minutes.

Based on a complaint by Honnamma, Jagadish’s foster mother, police took the three men into custody. They are looking for one more suspect.

Lovers commit suicide

Devaraju (21) and Manjula (18) were found hanging at their rented house in Kapilanagar in Rajagopalanagar police limits on Sunday. Devaraju, an electrician, hailed from Balekatte village, Amruthur hobli in Kunigal taluk of Tumkur district. Police say they are trying to find out Manjula’s background.

Police said Devaraju came to Bangalore two years ago and stayed in his sister’s house in Rajagopalanagar. He was in love with Manjula for the past two years. Devaraju took a house on rent three days ago for Rs 5,000 a month near Najundeshwar temple. He had paid Rs 3,000 advance and had promised his owner to pay the remaining Rs 2,000 soon. The police found no suicide note in the house.

House burgled

Thieves struck at the house of Ramakrishna, a resident of Nagarabhavi, and fled with jewellery weighing 110 gm and Rs 11,000 cash on Saturday afternoon. Ramakrishna had gone out with his wife to distribute his son’s wedding cards. The thieves broke open the lock of the front door to gain entry.

Elderly woman robbed

Two unidentified men robbed an elderly woman of her gold chain in Malleswaram on Sunday morning.

Bhagyalakshmamma was returning home after a morning walk on 10th cross on Sampige Road around 6.30 am, when she was accosted by the two men in an autorickshaw, snatched her chain and drove away in the auto.

Held for damaging ATM

An advocate was arrested by the Halasur Gate police for allegedly damaging an ATM, in an inebriated state. The accused, Lakshmipathy (42), is a resident of Banashankari 2nd stage and practices at the City Civil Court. Late on Saturday night, he tried to draw cash from the SBI ATM at the City Civil Court complex. But he did not get the cash.

Irked at this, he broke the glass panes of the ATM with a stone and tried to flee. The security guard caught hold of Lakshmipathy and handed him over to the police.
