JOIN USNarang today unveiled the logo of the academy for Pistol, Rifle and shotgun training and will launch it later this year at the Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.
"The time has come where all of us have to contribute towards taking shooting to greater heights and this is my small contribution to the effort," Narang said through a press release.
"Gun for Glory academy, which I'm starting in association with the help of Pune based Sports NGO Lakshya s being started with a goal to provide India with more medals during 2016 Olympics and other international tournaments," he added.
The Academy will be administered by Indian shooting team's Assistant coach Pawan Singh and international ace shooter Ronak Pandit will be the consulting Director.
The academy will be situated at the Balewadi complex shooting range and will have foreign coaches, Sports Injury Management Team, Physiotherapist, Foreign Armorer, Yoga Guru, Dietitian, Masseur, Gun testing facility, Equipment control & Psychologist among others, according to Narang.
"Raising funds for such a mammoth project is a Herculean task. I am looking for main sponsors, associate sponsors and different partners. We have taken a big risk. But I am sure that corporate will come forward and support the noble cause," Narang said.
Speaking on the occasion Swastik, spokesperson of Lakshya said, "We're thrilled to support Gagan and his team to start such a novel concept. Supporting creation of a world class academy like this will surely accelerate the progress of our sportspersons. One player can get training in this academy for a full year with the cost of one week of training abroad."
The academy will offer both short term and long term training programmes ranging from 15 day courses to residential yearly training. The distance learning program will involve 100 days training at Balewadi. The NGO says it will adopt a few top shooters who will get free training in the academy including free stay, free traveling and free equipment.
'Lakshya' will also select five players from Maharashtra state government-run Krida Prabodhini scheme who will be trained at the academy.
