‘Rabindra Sangeet’

An evening of Rabindra Sangeet will be held on January 22, 7 pm, to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. There will be a bouquet of Tagore songs presented by a band of artistes, including singers Sromona Chakrabarty and Debalina Ghosh. The show will be compered by Ranjon Ghoshal, a veteran Tagore researcher. The venue is Alliance Francaise auditorium. For details, call 9590119997.

Rhythm and melodies   

The Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is holding the International Music Conference and Festival 2011 with the theme ‘Rhythm and melodies in world music’ from January 22 to 26. Hindustani vocal

Ananya will present a Hindustani vocal recital by Vasavaraj Gonhal and sitar recital by Vijay Gonhal, who will be accompanied by M Nagesh (tabla), Puttaraja Gonhal (tabla), Ravindra Kotati (harmonium), on January 22, 6 pm at Ananya Sabhangana, 91/2, 4th Main, Malleswaram.

‘Sangeethootsava’

As part of Swara Sangeethalaya’s Sangeethootsava, a Hindustani classical music concert by Sneha Hampiholli will be presented on January 22, 5.30 pm at the Bangalore Scottish School, 7th Main Road, Navodayanagar. ‘Bhakti Yoga’

A concert series called Bhakti Yoga will be held from January 22 to 31. On January 22, 6 pm, L Subramaniam and Ambi Subramaniam will present a Carnatic violin recital at Gayana Samaja, K R Road. Musical journey

Amit Heri will perform at Kyra for his album Jhoola — A World Music Yatra on January 23, 8.30 pm. Amit Heri’s Jhoola – A World Music Yatra is a musical swing, which blends traditional Indian folk melodies, stylised with contemporary music forms and translated into a modern, international sound. The album features some interesting folk melodies, composed by renowned musician in the field of world music, Amit Heri, which brings out the folk beauty of India in a way never showcased before.
 
‘Four Statements’

A group show of paintings and prints called Four Statements will be held at Chitrakala Parishat art gallery till January 28, 10 am to 7 pm.  The works are by D P Mohanty, Satyendra Bouni, Sanjeev K Goutam and Suresh K Nair.

Graduation exhibition

Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology will hold their Graduation Exhibition, Class of 2010, at Freedom Park till January 24. It will showcase the works of 76
students.
