The report said the governor had sought 93 documents from the state government to verify the claims of the two lawyers who had complained about the chief minister.

In a detailed report, the governor said he had given 17 days to the state government, but in that period it provided only 80 documents. The remaining 13 were provided by the lawyers who had got them by exercising the Right to Information Act.

“I have given the sanction only after analysing all 93 documents,” Bhardwaj said in the report.  Meanwhile, the Karnataka government assured the Centre that it was taking adequate steps to maintain law and order in the wake of protests in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Union Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai said he has spoken to Chief Secretary S V Ranganath and DGP Ajai Kumar Singh and both of them have assured him of the situation being well under control.

“Both of them have assured that adequate arrangements were made to ensure that law and order is completely under control,” he said.
