'Stringent action against guilty'

“Stringent action will be initiated against the guilty after I get the report,” said Minister for Ports and Ecology Krishna J Palemar.

Speaking to presspersons in Guruvayanakere here on Saturday, he said “there are 4,500 industries coming under the Department of Environment. Action will be initiated against those industries which violate the rules of the department. Electricity and water supply connection will be snapped for those industries which do not follow the guidelines of the government.”

To a query, he said the government has not received report on carrying capacity of the Dakshina Kannada district.

“Once we get the report, we will cancel the licenses of those industries which are above carrying capacity.”
