Last Updated 27 January 2011, 15:03 IST

Chikkarangappa-led team comprised of Trishul Chinnappa, Saqib and Tarundeep Chadha. The Indians, however, missed making it a double, as Chikkarangappa was pushed to silver by one stroke.

The gold went to Rattanon Wannasrichan of Thailand (218), while Chikka had to settle for a silver with a score of 219.

Asian Juniors Golf Team Championship is a qualifying tournament for the Asia Region. Both India and Thailand have therefore qualified to play the World Juniors Championship 2011 to be held in Japan later in the year.

At the end of the second day, the Indian juniors were tied second with Korea, with Thailand being the leaders by two shots. The Indian star on the final day was Tarundeep, who returned a par round on the final day and helped India tie with Thailand on a three day cumulative score of 665.

India won the tournament and the gold medal on a count back. In case of a tie, team having a better final day score is declared winner. Both Chikka and Trishul shot three over each, which was creditable as they played the last few holes in heavy rain.

The field comprised top Asian countries like Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and India in the Team Championship.
