Beach Utsav begins

Speaking after inaugurating the utsav, Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya said CMC should organise beach utsav every year. It should be part of yearly activities. Government will bear the expenses of the utsav. A sum of Rs 25 crore will be sanctioned by next week earmarked for various programmes of Udupi CMC. Work for various proposed projects will begin shortly, he added.

Competitions like tug of war, boat race, kite competition, sand art sculpture contest, swimming contest, fishing, cycle race, volley ball, throw ball and beach kabbadi among other events have been organised on both days.

Food festival being one of the major attractions, the seaside area has set a perfect venue to display the fish menu of this part of the region. One can come across varieties of fish dishes like ‘prawns chatni,’ ‘shark chatni,’ ‘pamphlet fry,’ ‘anjal fry,’ ‘bangude’ and ‘bhuthayee fry,’ ‘kane fry,’ ‘idli-yetti masala,’ ‘neeru dose-yetti masala,’ ‘idli-bondas masala,’ ‘neeru dose-bondas masala’ and ‘thede pulimunchi’ just to name a few.
