In the 48kg final, Amandeep lost to Olympian Danielyn Oganes of Armenia by a slender margin of 3-5, while Akshay Kumar lost to Polynsky Dmitry of Russia 1-4 in the 57kg category.
However, it was Manpreet who had the most disappointing day as he could not even participate in the final due to a nose injury that he sustained during his hard-fought semifinal bout against Khomaster Artur of Germany.
The Indian women’s team won a bronze in the International tournament at St Petersburg.
Sangita Devi (81kg) lost to local pugilist Yavorskaya M on points in the semifinals to bring home the medal.
