Friends XI scored an emphatic innings and 25-run win over Indiranagar Cricketers while Sri Jayachamarajendra CC recorded an equally facile nine-wicket win over Vikram Cricket Club in the semifinals.

The highlights in Friends’ victory were an excellent spell by Mohammad Naseeruddin, who returned a match-haul of 12 for 72, and a quick hundred by M Anil Kumar (107, 100b, 13x4). Naseeruddin grabbed eight wickets conceding 30 runs as Friends restricted Indiranagar to a paltry 115. In reply, Anil’s hundred powered Friends to 231 for seven in 55 overs for a lead of 116 runs.

Naseeruddin (4/42) and Nosthosh (5/48) shared nine wickets among them as Friends bundled out their opponents for just 91 in 21.3 overs for a comprehensive win.

Thirumalesh shines

Thirumalesh Babu’s half-century powered Modern Cricketers to a 90-run victory over Freelancers Cricket Club in the KSCA tournament Group I, Division V tournament for the JB Mallaradhya Trophy. 

Batting first, Modern, spurred by Thirumalesh’s fifty, scored 224 all out in 48.1 overs. Modern bowlers then bundled out Freelancers for 134 in 37.3 overs.
