Last Updated 12 July 2009, 18:10 IST

He was speaking after inaugurating the annual day function of Bangalore University PG Studies, Research and Development Centre at its premises in the City.

Remake is the new trend in the Kannada film industry, expressed Gowda who said that commercial interests have eclipsed the social concern in the films.

The sole aim of every body it seems is to get rank in their studies and to secure a job later. But none are bothered about social responsibility, noted Gowda.

Expressing fear over the deterioration of the Kannada language, Gowda said that FM stations were polluting the language and added that if the trend continued the culture itself would be in jeopardy.

Senior Journalist K Prahald Rao, Prof T D Kempraj and Ramalingappa T Begur were the chief guests. Bangalore University Bifurcation Committee member Prof K G Lokesh gave the valedictory speech and PG Centre’s Director Dr K P Srinath presided over the meet.
