Consumers can send address proof through courier or officer

This order followed hundreds of people standing in a serpentine queue near the gas agencies, braving the scorching Sun, to submit the documents. Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, he said the department has taken this step following seizure of domestic LPG cylinders in black market after raids conducted by the officials in many districts recently.

There were complaints that many of them have more than single connection from various agencies by producing fake address proof and other documents. The ongoing drive would check the address of each and every consumer and allot the same to deserving families.

He said the consumers can produce electricity bill, proof of residence, ration card or any other document as proof of residence. People living in rented houses can submit the rental agreement signed with the house owners. There are 1, 69,146 LPG consumers in the district but so far, only 12,000 have submitted documents.
