The signatories to the agreement were Yenepoya University Medical Faculty Dean Dr Ghulam Jeelani Qadiri and Johannes Gutenberg University Medical Faculty Dean Dr Reinhard Urban.

“India is a rich resource for inter-cultural understanding. The MoU would enable establishing ethics worldwide,” said Coordinator for the MoU from German side and JGU Department of History, Philosophy and Ethics of Medicine Director Dr Norbert Paul.

Clinical Ethics Consultation focuses on the ethical issues in the clinical setting and is an accepted method of attempting to reach a consensus between doctor, patient and other health care workers, said Yenepoya University Vice Chancellor Dr P Chandramohan. He further added that ethics is not a new thing to India as medicine was practiced by Rishis in olden days and they were spiritual people with ethics.

“The collaboration will enhance research, academics, teaching, learning and will help the Universities to network,” said Yenepoya University Registrar Dr Janardhana Konaje.

Yenepoya University Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Head Dr Vina Vaswani is the coordinator for the MoU from the Indian side.
