Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Federation State General Secretary Vanith Kumar said the guest lecturers have been urging the government to fulfill their demands for the last four years and the government has been neglecting their demands. As a third phase of agitation, the guest lecturers will take out a rally and will submit a memorandum to the DC in the respective district headquarters.

He said there are 4,972 guest lecturers who have been working in various Government PU Colleges in the State for several years. According to the federation, the Government paid them Rs 5,000 during academic days but nothing during vacations, and the lecturers were finding it difficult to meet ends with the present salary.

“The government should be held responsible if the students were affected by the indefinite protest. All those guest lecturers who have been serving from 2005 till date should be regularised as per the assurance given by the government.”

The federation demanded that the Government give a salary of Rs 20,000 a month as per the UGC guidelines. While releasing the pending salaries for the last one and half years, the ministry should see that all get Rs 10,000 per month as published in Higher Education department book.
