<p>The High Court has directed the Co-Operative societies to conduct elections after the election code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls ceases.<br /><br />Hearing a petition seeking directions to ensure a fresh notification to conduct elections for the societies, the division bench headed by Justice N Kumar has ruled that a fresh notification is not necessary and the co-operative societies can conduct elections without waiting for any notification. <br /><br />It could be recalled that the State had issued a notification on 4 March, 2009 to defer the elections of Co-operative societies across the State in the wake of ensuing Lok Sabha polls.<br /><br />Violation<br /><br />The State government had cited the parliamentary elections and said that the scheduled elections by the co-operative societies will amount to a violation of code of conduct of elections and had ordered them to defer.</p>
