Farmers demand subsidy, implements

The protesters alleged the officials of the Sericulture department were showing laxity and were not efficiently supplying the implements provided by the department to the farmers.

The officials are also depriving the farmers of the subsidy and other benefits by not implementing them effectively, they added. The officials are also negligent and apathetic to the needs of the farmers.

Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene taluk unit president Lakshmi Narayana Reddy said the implements, subsidy and other benefits extended by the sericulture is not reaching farmers. The officials have been denying the farmers their legitimate rights, he added.

Deputy Director of the Sericulture department who rushed to the spot promised to provide subsidy and other benefits to the farmers and added that strict action would be taken against the officials who are found guilty.

The implements which are being used by people other than farmers and beneficiaries will be seized and action will be taken against such persons, he added.

Raitha Sangha taluk unit vice-president K G Adinarayana Reddy, Narasimha Reddy, Raghunath Reddy and others took part.
