According to the police, a few miscreants indulged in unruly behaviour in front of Byregowda’s house on Tuesday night and had abused his wife in vulgar words.

Hundreds of the party workers gathered in front of Byregowda’s house in Sahakarnagar on Wednesday morning as soon the news spread. They took out a protest rally and blocked the road at Kodigehalli gate, added the police.

Addressing the rally, Byregowda alleged that some miscreants are indulging in such acts for the past three months. The BJP party workers have been attacking the Congress Party workers and are creating hurdles for implementing developmental projects in the area. The police have failed to take action even after lodging a complaint. Such incidents have continued as the miscreants have the blessings of the government and support of the local police, he alleged and charged that the police are including the Congress party workers names in the list rowdy-sheeted persons. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M R Pujar rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters.

The protest was withdrawn after Pujar assured them of taking action against the accused. Two persons Lakshminarayan and Manjunath have been arrested in this connection.

Traffic out of gear

The traffic movement in and around Kodigehalli gate was thrown out of gear for more than one hour. Those on way to the Bangalore International Airport and coming to the City from the airport faced great hardship. Students, who were on their way to attend exams, had tough time.

Vehicles stood in a long queue till Yelahanka. Passengers got down from BMTC buses and walked away. The police expressed their helplessness and said that they just required one minute to disperse the protesters, but the protesters would pelt stones at them creating law and order problem. Moreover, Human Rights Commission will intervene and raise objections to the police act. Hence, several policemen were forced to watch people experiencing inconvenience as mute spectators.
